Rasika Shekar

Rasika Shekar is a talented musician who seamlessly blends her Indo-American heritage with her passion for traditional Indian instruments, particularly the bansuri, a traditional bamboo flute. Rasika's professional journey began in 2011 when she was invited to join legendary ghazal artist Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan on tour as a vocalist, performing a range of classic ghazals. The following year, she made her mark in the Bollywood music scene with her playback singing debut in the film Dekh Indian Circus, courtesy of acclaimed composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. This opportunity led to collaborations with the trio in their live concerts, further establishing her presence in the industry. Her Bollywood playback credits also include notable films such as 2 States, Kill Dil, Katti Batti, and Love Games. With a strong foundation in both Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, Rasika's early training was influenced by her family, including Carnatic vocal lessons from her aunt Vaishali Shankar and violin instruction from her grandmother Gowri Ramakrishnan.
